La Fritterie is owned and run by Jeff and Lisa Powell the founders of JRC, one of the UK's leading carp tackle brands.

Set in the Marne Valley approx 3 1/2 hours drive from Calais, La Fritterie is a 30-year-old, mature 12 acre carp lake, which has a large lodge with newly fitted showers, toilets and kitchen facilities. There are eating areas inside the lodge and a covered area outside which has panoramic views of the entire lake.

The maximum number of anglers allowed at one time is 8. This gives you plenty of space to move swims during your weeks fishing. We do not take part bookings for the lake.

To be fair to all anglers we operate a draw system on arrival, swims unfortunately cannot be pre-booked but all swims can produce big hits of carp. The lake has 10 swims, all of which are accessible by car.

The fishing at La Fritterie is superb with regular multiple catches reported and big fish to over 60lb (both commons and mirrors) to target.

• The lake is very simple to fish being approx 9 foot deep in midsummer. Unless it's a blindingly hot summer there is very little weed and most of the fish feed in open water.
• There are a few small plateaux with depths of around 5-7 feet but, as yet, the determining factor seems to be where you put your bait and, basically, whether they are really 'having it' or not.
• Most of the lake is of firm clay or gravel bottom with a very small amount of silt areas which are mainly situated in the margins.
• The 5 acre bay is reed-lined and, in the later months, some good fish can be caught by casting to the edge of these.
• Maximum casting distance between the swims is approx 90 yards although most of the fish are caught between 25 -75 yards out, so you don't need long range casting ability.
• Although 90% of the lake is tree-lined the swims are maintained to make for easy casting.

Due to the popularity of this exceptional lake, next seasons vacancies are selling fast, so itıs advisable to book early to avoid disappointment.

• There are two modern showers and two toilets; these operate on a constant hot water system so no hanging about for hot showers.
• There is also a fitted kitchen which can be used to prepare meals.
• A large gas powered barbecue is available for use at the lodge. The beautiful town of Vitry le Francois is some 15 minutes away, with supermarkets and a selection of restaurants, plus a McDonalds, should the need arise!
